2002 Show Results

Ishmael
Ishmael, pictured at left, is an RPSI Stud Book I approved pinto Oldenburg stallion. Ishmael proved that while he's bred to jump, dressage is right up his alley as well. Ishmael debuted in the dressage ring in 2002 under Craig Heckert, FEI rider from Hill City, South Dakota. Judge Debbie Rodriguez rewarded Ishmael's gaits with overall scores of 8's, and commented that he showed a particular talent for dressage which should be encouraged. He scored between 61 and 65 percent at First and Second Levels.

In 2002, Solomon Farm broodmares and youngstock went to work alongside our stallion, Ishmael. Larkin, a premium mare by Leonardo (Han.) is pictured above showing successfully at First Level under our working student Chandra Lestmeister. Youngsters Peregrine, pictured below left, (2000 gelding by Pennant out of Nightshade) and Henna, below right, (1999 filly by Hall of Fame out of Busy More) distingished themselves as well in sporthorse breeding classes, placing Grand or Reserve champion in-hand every time out! Pictured below Peregrine and Henna are two of our broodmares, Jewel on the left and Lumina on the right, distinguishing themselves in the in-hand classes. Take the time to check out our horses' individual pages, or request a video to see these impressive younsters in motion.

2002 Keuring Results

Four impressive 2002 foals took home Silver Premium awards at our annual keuring -- Ishkander, a bay colt by Ishmael out of Lady Jellybean, was high scoring foal with a 7.8. Izod (by Ishmael, out of Nightshade by Meisterwind) and Masquerade (by Meisterwind out of Premium mare Chateau Queen) both scored 7.7, and Moonshine, a black colt born in late July by Meisterwind out of Lady Moonbeam, scored a 7.6, despite a small injury to his ankle. Most exciting of all, Der Graf, an imported 2000 stallion by Donnerhall out of Princess by Pik Koenig, was rated into Stud Book I and approved for breeding. Der Graf scored 8's and 9's on his movement, and drew particular praise for his canter. Watch for this promising young son of the legendary Donnerhall as he begins his show and breeding career in 2003!

Now, in a look backwards, our 2001 Keuring results are as follows: S. Pionage (by Sabotage, out of Mega Howey), Signet (by Sabotage out of Jewel - Meisterwind) and Minerva (by Meisterwind out of Malthusian Theory) all scored silver medals at our 2001 Rheinland Pfalz-Saar keuring held September 15, 2001.

Chateau QueenChateau Queen, pictured at left, the newest member of our broodmare herd, was awarded Premium Mare status, and was third highest scoring mare in America on the 2001 tour! And most exciting of all, she's in foal to Meisterwind for a May '02 foal! Also gaining top honors at our 2001 keuring was Blue Moon Stable's Welkin, a 2001 chestnut colt by Wazi.

Solomon Farm brought home top honors and the Champion and Reserve Champion Young Horses at the South Dakota Sporthorse Breeding Show held at the South Dakota State Fair on August 1, 2001. Robin, a 2000 RPSI filly by Rainbow, out of Summit Peak -- Galoubet, was awarded champion young horse, and Peregrine, a 2000 RPSI gelding by Pennant out of Nightshade -- Meisterwind finished close behind with reserve championship honors. Our last year's overall high point champion, Jewel (by Meisterwind, out of Jade) became a proud mother this spring -- Signet, a leggy black RPSI colt by Sabotage, is her first foal, and one to watch for in the dressage ring.

IshmaelIn a look backwards -- the second Solomon Farm RPSI keuring took place September 13th of 2000. We were pleased to announce that our young stallion Ishmael was approved into Stallion Book I of the Rheinland Pfalz-Saar registry. Ishmael impressed the judges with his kind, rideable nature and outstanding canter. Ishmael is limited to a book of 5 mares for 2001 while he fulfills his performance requirements necessary for full licensing.

Ishmael finished up his first season showing, in 2000, with impressive results. He was 2nd out of 13 Beginner Novice horses in Moon Rock Equestrian Center's 5-20-00 horse trials, his first show ever! On June 17, 2000, Ishmael WON the Open Novice division of the Cowboy State Games in Casper, Wyoming. July 1st, 2000, Ishmael placed 2nd out of 17 at the Powder Basin Horse Trials in Gilette, Wyoming. Ishmael qualified for the regional championships, and even after performing his dressage test in a rain squall that blew the arena down around him, he placed 4th out of 24 Open Novice horses at the Jackson Hole Horse Trials in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, August 25th, 2000. Finally, in the middle of a snowstorm, Ishmael WON the open novice division of Moon Rock Equestrian Center's combined test, on September 24th, in Worland, Wyoming. Congratulations to Ishmael and his trainer, Tracey Dalton of Dalton Farm, Worland, Wyoming.

Moving on to our 1st PREMIUM foals of 2000 -- Peregrine (2000 colt by Pennant - Nightshade) wowed the judges with his amazing trot, and earned the highest score of the day - 8.2 for type and 8.6 for movement, overall 8.4! Iden (2000 filly by Ishmael - Lady Jellybean) also earned PREMIUM foal with an 8.0 overall score, a great start for her young sire. Jewel, our 1997 black mare by Meisterwind, out of Jade, just missed premium mare status by 1 point! The judges commented on her impressive movement. Thanks again to everyone who came to help. We couldn't put it on without you! And a round of applause also for the judges, Otto Schalter, director of the German Studbooks, and Karl Heinz Bange, president of the German Rheinland Pfalz-Saar verband, as well as the vice president of the RPSI, JoAnn Cohn. Thanks for coming! Atlas

Pictured at left is Atlas (1999 colt by Art Deco) getting friendly with the judges at our inaugeral RPSI keuring in 1999. Solomon Farm had THREE premium mares and THREE premium foals -- Lumina (1995 mare by Impression out of Mega Howey), Lute (1996 mare by Cheenook out of Mega Howey), Larkin (1991 mare by Leonardo out of Mother Goose), Atlas (1999 colt by Art Deco out of Mega Howey), Rapunzel (1999 filly by Rienzi out of Mega Howey) and Savannah (now known as Sympa) (1999 filly by Sabotage out of Summit Peak). The judges were impressed with our mare herd and the quality of our foals. Sympa scored a 9 on movement, and Rapunzel and Sympa finished with overall scores of 8.25! Congratulations to these mares and foals, and thanks to everyone who helped make both these inspections a success!
